Contained within the outer casing is a rather unbelievable amount of saponin which makes the frothy lather in soaps, shampoos, or in your laundry. In the food forest Saponins are also a natural insecticide. Contained in any Neem oil spray recipe is dish soap for this reason. I also crush these up and and top dress any soil where I am having an issue with any bad actors in my soil.
