Banana yucca is an evergreen that provides a fun texture contrast in my food forest. Though it can handle droughts I do water mine more frequently to maintain growth through out the year. The growth habit is similar to a banana as it sends up pups near the base and once a specific rosette bears fruit it dies back and makes room for the next. The fruit can be eaten raw but I typically treat them similar to a plantain as it has a sweet flavor when cooked or dried
